Silicone waxes are modified silicone ingredients designed for personal care and cosmetic formulations requiring controlled melting behavior, smooth spreading, lubricity, gloss, hydrophobicity, ingredient dispersion, or texture adjustment.

The series includes liquid, paste, and solid grades with melting points ranging from 15 °C to 68 °C. Available INCI options include Cetyl Dimethicone, Stearyl Dimethicone, C24-28 Alkyl Dimethicone, C30-45 Alkyl Dimethicone, and PEG-17 Dimethicone.

Different alkyl chain lengths and functional structures allow formulators to adjust product format, melting profile, skin adhesion, migration resistance, pigment or UV-filter dispersion, gloss, and after-feel. These silicone waxes can be evaluated for sunscreens, lip products, color cosmetics, skincare products, anhydrous systems, and compatible emulsified or foaming formulations.

Key Features

Multiple Melting Points and Physical Forms

The series provides melting points from 15 °C to 68 °C, covering transparent to turbid liquids, white or milky white pastes, and white flake solids.

Lower-melting grades support easy spreading and incorporation into lightweight formulations, while higher-melting grades can provide greater structure, adhesion, and resistance to product migration.

Smooth Spreading and Low-Greasy Sensory Profile

Selected grades provide lubricity, softness, and a smooth application feel. These properties can help improve product pickup, glide, and distribution while reducing the heavy or excessively greasy sensation associated with some conventional waxes and oils.

The final sensory effect depends on the selected grade, addition level, oil phase, pigment system, and finished-product format.

Gloss and Color Dispersion

Silicone waxes can support gloss development and the dispersion of compatible colorants, powders, and active ingredients. Model 1-411 combines gloss, low greasiness, and color-dispersion properties for sunscreen and lip product formulations.

Pigment wetting, color development, coverage, and dispersion stability should be evaluated in the complete formulation.

Hydrophobicity and Skin Adhesion

Models 1-411, 1-412, and 1-413 provide hydrophobic properties for formulations requiring moisture resistance or a more persistent surface film.

Model 1-412 provides strong adhesion and a smooth finish, while Model 1-413 supports resistance to migration. Finished-product adhesion, transfer, wash-off behavior, and water resistance should be confirmed through application testing.

Wetting, Emulsifying and Foam-Enhancing Properties

Model 1-420 combines wetting, spreading, softness, gloss, and emulsifying properties. It can also support moisturized sensory effects and foam performance in compatible formulations.

Its behavior depends on the surfactant system, oil phase, processing method, pH, and other formulation ingredients.

Applications and Formulation Notes

Sunscreen Formulations

Models 1-410 and 1-411 are suitable for sunscreen formulations requiring ingredient dispersion, smooth spreading, gloss adjustment, or a lower-greasy after-feel.

Model 1-410 can support the dispersion of compatible active components, while Model 1-411 combines color dispersion, hydrophobicity, and sensory modification. Their compatibility with inorganic UV filters, organic UV filters, dispersants, emollients, and film formers should be evaluated in the complete formulation.

Any change in SPF, UVA protection, photostability, or water resistance must be confirmed through finished-product testing.

Lip Products

Model 1-411 can be used in compatible lip products requiring gloss, smooth application, hydrophobicity, color dispersion, and reduced greasiness.

Models 1-412 and 1-413 can also be evaluated where a higher melting profile, greater product structure, stronger adhesion, or reduced migration is required. Confirm payoff, hardness, drag, gloss, color uniformity, transfer, and temperature stability in the finished formula.

Color Cosmetics

Selected Silicone Waxes can support pigment distribution, surface smoothness, product adhesion, and gloss in compatible color cosmetic formulations.

Model 1-411 supports color dispersion, Model 1-412 provides strong adhesion, and Model 1-413 supports migration resistance. The appropriate grade should be selected according to the pigment system, product format, desired finish, and required wear characteristics.

Anhydrous and Solid Product Formats

Models 1-412 and 1-413 are suitable for evaluation in anhydrous or solid formulations requiring flake-form waxes with higher melting points.

Model 1-412 provides a melting point of 52 °C and strong adhesion, while Model 1-413 provides a melting point of 68 °C and greater resistance to migration. Their effect on structure, break resistance, payoff, melting behavior, and storage stability should be tested with the complete wax and oil system.

Skincare and Sensory Modification

Silicone Waxes can be incorporated into compatible skincare formulations to modify spreading, softness, gloss, surface feel, and skin adhesion.

Lower-melting grades can support lighter textures, while higher-melting alkyl dimethicone grades can provide greater body and film persistence. Silicone Waxes primarily function as formulation and sensory modifiers and should not automatically be treated as replacements for dedicated humectants or moisturizing actives.

Emulsified and Foaming Formulations

Model 1-420 can be evaluated in compatible emulsified or foaming systems requiring wetting, spreading, emulsification, softness, gloss, or foam enhancement.

Its emulsifying and foam performance should be evaluated with the intended oils, surfactants, thickeners, electrolytes, and active ingredients. It should not be assumed to function as a complete emulsifier system in every formulation.

Packaging, Storage & Handling

Packaging Options

Silicone waxes are available in:

  • 25 kg plastic drums

  • 200 kg plastic drums

Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use to prevent contamination and changes in product quality.

Storage and Shelf Life

Store silicone waxes in their original sealed packaging below 30 °C, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and contamination.

Under the recommended storage conditions, the shelf life is 24 months from the production date.

Handling and Transport

Silicone waxes can be transported as non-dangerous goods under ordinary cargo conditions.
